Diet indeed is a very important part of any weight-loss regime. Let us look at this from the point of view of Ayurveda, which says that the food eaten by us is first converted into Ras dhatu, which then progressively forms the other dhatus, roughly one subsequent dhatu every month. Ras-Rakta-Mansa-Meda-Asthi-Majja-Shukra are the 7 dhatus we possess. Meda dhatu roughly corresponds to our fatty tissues. Now, if we eat less, less dhatu will be formed. Alternatively, if we eat such foods as will convert less into Meda dhatu, then also less medfa dhatu will get formed. There are many diets which cause lesser conversion of the earlier dhatus into Meda dhatus. This is another and lesser-known way of looking at 'diets' and 'dieting', isn't it!
